Based in London and quartet in residence at the Atheneum Concert Hall in Bucharest, the ensemble has earned acclaim for its subsequent concerts and recordings. Their Beall Hall concert will delve deep into the soul of the string quartet tradition, with Mozart’s beloved “Dissonance,” an early Beethoven quartet that shows the influence of Mozart and Haydn, and one of Benjamin’s Britten finest works. Hailed as “…technically accomplished and uncommonly probing” by The New York Times, the Belcea Quartet has earned engagements the leading concert halls of Vienna, Brussels, Lisbon, and Paris, as well as stateside appearances in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre. The Belcea regularly appears at festivals in Luberon, Istanbul, Trondheim, Lausanne, Salzburg, Mecklenburg, and in the UK, Edinburgh, Aldeburgh, Perth, Bath, and Cheltenham.
