Gonzalo X. Ruiz is one of America's most sought-after and critically acclaimed historical woodwind soloists. He has appeared as principal oboist and soloist with leading groups this country and Europe under such conductors as McGegan, Savall, Manze, Antonini, Huggett, Goodwin, and Egarr. His 2009 recording with Monica Huggett and Sonnerie, J.S. Bach: Orchestral Suites for a Young Prince, features his own reconstruction of these famous works to their original versions and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010. Recently appointed to the faculty of The Juilliard School, he has taught for many years at Oberlin Conservatory and the Longy School of Music.
