For the first time in its history, Oregon Bach Festival will have a building to call its own, thanks to generous lead capital gifts from Andrew & Phyllis Berwick and Donald & Willie Tykeson. OBF is seeking $1.4 million toward a $9 million building project. The 10,000 square foot building will be located on the University of Oregon campus next to the School of Music and Dance (SOMD) on 18th Avenue.
Rehearsal/Performance Space Within Berwick Hall
The building will be a homecoming in a sense, recognizing OBF’s roots as a conducting master class and lecture series founded within the SOMD. The new building will provide a much-needed rehearsal room and performance space as well as a permanent home for OBF offices.
Kierkegaard Associates of Chicago managed the acoustical design in creating a premier rehearsal, performance, and recording venue. The flexible rehearsal hall/performance space can accommodate up to 140 seats, depending on the scale of performance. In addition, the building will grant the Festival visibility on a busy street, opportunities for community events, and a centralized hub for Festival activities. We expect over 10,000 people to visit the space during the Festival, not including cross-campus and community rentals.
Can you imagine the gratification of naming a room or atrium in Berwick Hall for your family, loved one, or business? Oregon Bach Festival musicians, staff, audience, and community members will be grateful for your giving when they use the space for music events in the years to come. It is an honor for the Festival to recognize major gifts to the campaign for Berwick Hall and there are a number of room naming opportunities still available. If you would like more information about giving a gift to support Oregon Bach Festival’s exciting new home, please contact Gretchen Farrar, Senior Associate Director of Development, at 541-346-1324 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Please join us in extending our appreciation to the Berwicks and Tykesons for their generous gifts, and we invite you to consider making a contribution to this once-in-an-organization’s-lifetime opportunity!
