Gretchen Farrar

  • Senior Associate Director of Development

Gretchen Farrar is honored to lead Oregon Bach Festival’s fundraising as she approaches her third festival.  Gretchen moved to Eugene in 2015 from Vermont where she was previously Development Director at Burlington City Arts.  Gretchen received her Master’s in Music in Voice Performance from the University of Oregon as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in 2003 and she was thrilled to return to Eugene to advocate for this internationally renowned festival.  Gretchen has significant experience in development and arts administration from New York City Opera, New York Philharmonic, and Richard Tucker Music Foundation.  A professional soprano, Gretchen has performed with Anchorage Opera, Eugene Opera, Hudson Opera Theater, Dicapo Opera, Elysium-Between Two Continents, and in a variety of recital series.  Gretchen’s special connection to Bach is that she studied German in Bach's home city of Leipzig through a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service.  In her free time, Gretchen enjoys exploring Oregon’s great outdoors with her family, practicing her opera languages with anyone who will endure some funky but well-intended grammar, and singing the National Anthem at Ducks games.
