Edward Maclary

Edward Maclary is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Maryland. He has prepared UMD choirs for Helmuth Rilling’s performances of the St. Matthew Passion, Die Schöpfung, and Elijah with the National Symphony Orchestra and, since 2011, has partnered with Matthew Halls on a growing number of important performance and pedagogical collaborations. Maclary has also served as chorus master for conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Iván Fischer, Andris Nelsons, and Marin Alsop, as well as the legendary Robert Shaw. Under his direction the UMD Chamber Singers have toured throughout Europe and Asia, winning top prizes in numerous international competitions and appeared by invitation at the 10th World Symposium on Choral Music in Seoul, South Korea.
