Auditions for the 2017 season are now closed for all instruments except lute. Lutenists interested in submitting an audition may do do here.
The Berwick Academy of the Oregon Bach Festival, led by Artistic Director Matthew Halls, is now accepting auditions for the 2017 season! Program dates are June 25 - July 13, 2017. Video auditions and supporting material are due by Thursday, December 1, 2016, and may be submitted here.
We are accepting auditions for the following instruments:
Selected musicians will need to bring their own instruments to the Academy.
Applications are submitted online through Slideroom and require the following:
- Two videos featuring contrasting movements or pieces played on a historically appropriate instrument tuned to A=415. Further details below.
- One letter of recommendation from a university, institution, or other professional referee. Recommendations must be submitted through the online portal. DO NOT HAVE RECOMMENDATIONS SENT BY EMAIL TO THE OBF OFFICES.
Selections can come from different composers and styles and may be accompanied or not. Auditions will be judged on technique, tone quality, and clear command of historical styles. The simplest answer to most questions about audition repertory is for you to show us your best stuff. The camera should be positioned to best show your technique and the sound quality needs to be as clear as possible. Quality musicians who apply with inadequate recordings may be rejected if the judges are not fully capable of assessing your technique and sound quality.
To cover the cost of the application site, there is a $10 fee to apply. The Oregon Bach Festival does not make a profit from these fees.
Feel free to email Dave Goudy with any questions.
