OBF Gold Ticket 2013 now on sale

Gold Tickets, season passes to all Eugene concerts for the 2013 Oregon Bach Festival, are now on sale by mail through the Hult Center Bach's Office. Gold Ticket holders receive first preference for the 2013 Festival's best seating. Other benefits include admission to all ticketed Eugene events with the same seats at each venue, free parking passes in the Hult Center garage, and the option to transfer tickets to friends. Regular tickets will be on sale beginning March 12, with priority given to contributing Friends of the Festival. Price for the Gold Ticket is $738 per ticket plus a $5...

Master Class deadline approaching

The deadline to apply for the 2013 conducting master class is approaching. All required audition material must arrive at the OBF office by February 15. Up to 12 selected conductors will be notified by March 1 with the entire roster set by mid-March. From June 27 – July 10, the Master Class in Conducting offers conductors the unique opportunity to further develop their craft while studying under the direction of world-renowned Bach expert Helmuth Rilling and a staff of distinguished professionals. Two new members approved for Friends board

The Friends of the Festival approved Mark Pilkenton and Ron Wakefield as new directors at the December 9 annual meeting. A Nike employee for over 32 years, Mark Pilkenton is now the Director of Global Event Marketing, overseeing a team that conceives, plans and executes Nike brand experiences at major sports and fitness events. Mark’s previous experience includes positions at KVAL-TV, and as faculty member in Broadcast Journalism for LCC. OBF commission receives NEA grant

On November 27, National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced that the Oregon Bach Festival is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The OBF is recommended for a $25,000 grant to support the commissioning of a new work for chorus and orchestra by James MacMillan. The commissioned work will be a Bach-inspired cantata scored for chorus, orchestra, and soloists, with a world premiere currently set for the 2016 OBF season.
