Pärt’s Passio: music for a contemplative summer night June 28th

The story is traditional: the Gospel According to St. John. But the approach is ethereal, profound, and, ultimately, captivating: Passio, music for voices and a string quintet by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. The music isn’t the only thing that will create a special atmosphere for this later-evening concert, which starts at 9 pm on Sunday, June 28 and takes place without intermission. It’s not every night when you can experience The Creation. On June 25th, that will be true in more ways than one. Yes, that’s the opening night performance of The Creation, Haydn’s masterful musical merging of The Book of Genesis and Milton’s Paradise Lost, with its colorful depictions of the beginning of life. But it’s also the first-ever performance by our new Berwick Academy orchestra. OBF Moves to New Office

Check out the view of our new building. Last Monday, March 30 OBF staff started unpacking boxes and settling in at our new office at 1600 Millrace Dr. We are on the second floor of the newly renovated building, come visit us.

Bach at Studio 5 in Eugene not only served as the official launch for the 2015 season of the Oregon Bach Festival, but as the site for the announcement of a contract extension for Artistic Director Matthew Halls through the 2020 season. New Grant Now Underwrites Organ Institute

  The Oregon Bach Festival is excited to announce the gift of a generous grant from The Reed Foundation to underwrite the organ programs of OBF including the Organ Institute and recitals. Beginning with the 2015 class, to ensure talented musicians have access to the six-day course of master classes and performances with renowned American organist Paul Jacobs, organists accepted to participate in the Institute will be able to attend tuition free and with no cost for housing.
