Master Class in Conducting: Program CostsTuition for the 2012 class remains the same as 2011. See the Auditing pages for auditing tuition and partial session packages. 2012 RatesTuition is $1,250 for participating conductors as selected through the audition process. The class runs from June 28 to July 12, 2012. Room & board is charged at the cost of $75 a night for a single room or $63 a night for a double room. Class participants requesting housing stay in Barnhart Hall on the University of Oregon campus and eat all meals through campus dining, which provides for a large variety of tastes and dietary needs. Those requesting a double room without a specific roommate can have one assigned. St. Matthew Extension PackageThe class ends on Thursday night, June 12, following the conclusion of the last Discovery Series concert. Many conductors and auditors, however, may wish to stay through the final weekend of the festival to observe Helmuth Rilling’s preparation and performance of the St. Matthew Passion on June 15. For participants who wish to stay beyond the 12th, all you would be charged is room and board but you would have access to the rehearsals and receive tickets for the formal performance. Financial AidNeed-based financial aid will be available to conductors chosen for the class. Do not let the cost of the program keep you from auditioning, as you may qualify for scholarship funding. University CreditThe Master Class in Choral-Orchestral Conducting can be taken for college credit by participating conductors and auditors alike who attend the entire program.
