Master Class deadline approaching

The deadline to apply for the 2013 conducting master class is approaching. All required audition material must arrive at the OBF office by February 15. Up to 12 selected conductors will be notified by March 1 with the entire roster set by mid-March. From June 27 – July 10, the Master Class in Conducting offers conductors the unique opportunity to further develop their craft while studying under the direction of world-renowned Bach expert Helmuth Rilling and a staff of distinguished professionals. Class participants receive hands-on training and attend specialized workshops in preparation to conduct the OBF orchestra, chorus and soloists in rehearsal and performance of Bach’s St. John Passion. Class, rehearsal, and seminar topics include rehearsal methods, immersive study of the language and text , conducting technique, and comprehension of the work’s symbolism and structure. In this culminating year of Helmuth Rilling's tenure as artistic director, it marks the end of a revered tradition no conductor will want to miss.
