A Night of Vivid Color and Raucous Energy

  • Jul 1, 2015

Legendary conductor Masaaki Suzuki leads the OBF Orchestra and Berwick Chorus in a concert of classical masterpieces, including Haydn’s epic Lord Nelson Mass 7:30pm on Tuesday, July 7. This work has long been a favorite for its spectacular climaxes and intense drama unlike other settings of the mass. Maestro Suzuki and the fantastic quartet of Joanne Lunn, Roxana Constantinescu, Dann Coakwell, and Tyler Duncan will thrill you with this vivid and thrilling work.

The program also includes two great orchestral works, Mozart’s Symphony in G Minor, No. 25 and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella. The score for Pulcinella, one of the loveliest of the 20th century, channels the music of the Classical era through masterful orchestral colors as only Stravinsky can do. The Mozart symphony was featured prominently in the soundtrack to the movie Amadeus, and is one of his stormiest and dramatic works.

This will be one of the artistic highlights of the 2015 Oregon Bach Festival season!
