EUGENE—On the eve of the Oregon Bach Festival’s 2013 opening, Jim Wildish and the Wildish Companies, Eugene-based construction firms, were recognized for longtime support with the Festival’s Silver Baton Award. The Silver Baton is presented to corporations whose cumulative support of the OBF exceeds $100,000. John Evans, OBF President and Executive Director, presented the award to Jim and Yvonne Wildish as part of the Festival’s June 27 fundraising gala. “In supporting the Festival for nearly 25 years, the Wildish family has done more than achieve the level for our Silver Baton Award,” said Evans. “The company is an important part of our history and the greater community.” 0627-3147Accepting the award, Jim Wildish acknowledged the role of his late brother Tom, a longtime donor who also served as an OBF board chair. “We’ve enjoyed our many years of sponsorship,” Wildish said. “And the reason has to do with Tom. He understood, like Helmuth has done in the world of music, that our job is to build bridges. We have been happy to help the Festival build connections to our community.” In 2013 the Wildish Companies sponsored the opening performance of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, conducted by Helmuth Rilling.
