A recipient of Chamber Music America’s ASCAP Award, the Voxare String Quartet “jumps on its music with all fours and makes the tussle worth hearing,” says the Washington Post. Firmly rooted in chamber music’s heritage but unafraid to present new works, Voxare offers music by Bartok, Lou Harrison and Mendelssohn in its December 1 concert. Pronounced "vox-AH-ray," the name is the group's own creation, an imagined Latin infinitive of the root word "vox," or voice. Period-instrument performers with a sound described by The Times (London) as full of “clarity and character,” the London Haydn Quartet creates performances that are clean yet warm, thoughtful yet emotive. Period clarinet virtuoso Eric Hoeprich is guest soloist for this concert January 12, 2014, which includes Mozart’s great clarinet quintet. Imani2The Imani Winds return for the third time to Beall Concert Hall February 16. With an approach that’s “life-affirming…stylish and joy-filled,” (Minnesota Public Radio), the Grammy nominated wind quintet has won over both audiences and critics with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, and adventurous collaborations. Combining the finesse of a string quartet, the energy of a rock band, and the audacity of a storefront theater company, the six “super-musicians” (LA Times) of eighth blackbird entertain and provoke audiences across the country and around the world.  On April 6 the group will feature works by such contemporary composers as Bryce Dessner, Steve Mackey, and Brett Dean. ChamberMusic@Beall season tickets range in price from $90-$212 and are on sale through the Hult Center and University of Oregon ticket offices, by phone 541.682.5000, or online through tickets.com.
