Auditions now thru March 17 for choral academy

Attention high school choral singers! If you want the time of your life, sign up now to try out for the Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy. The 80+ voice high school choir is open nationally to students who will be enrolled in high school in September 2010. Live auditions take place through March 17 at sites in Portland, Salem, Eugene, Medford, and Bend, Oregon. Recorded auditions can be submitted anytime now through March 16. The SFYCA program includes seminars and rehearsals with staff and faculty including Anton Armstrong, Helmuth Rilling, and Bobby McFerrin. Participants attend Oregon Bach Festival concerts and perform in three concerts including a headline event with McFerrin. The 2010 SFYCA takes place in Eugene, Oregon, June 24-July 5. Tuition and fees for accepted singers are $775 and include all sessions, sheet music, concert tickets and room and board in a University of Oregon dorm for the duration of the academy.
