Wanted: high school singers
Auditions for the Oregon Bach Festival's high school choral program will conclude April 9. Registration is still open for several of the sites, and recorded auditions are still being accepted.
The Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy is an innovative ten-day experience in which young singers study and rehearse in an intensive professional atmosphere under the guidance of Anton Armstrong and other Festival artists.
SFYCA participants must be in their freshman through senior year in high school. Participants may sign up for a live audition or send in a recorded CD, and will need to submit a letter of recommendation from their high school choir teacher or private voice teacher.
Live auditions take place in Portland, Eugene, Salem, and Medford through April 9. Full dates and locations can be found on the SFYCA website.
Registration is required for live auditions. Singers who cannot attend a live session may submit a recorded audition.
Dates for the 2011 SFYCA are June 22 -July 3. The experience includes three concerts, including a free performance on the Nike campus in Beaverton, Oregon, and a headline event on July 3.
