OBF Kids: Characters come to life through music

  • May 21, 2012
Each year, the Oregon Bach Festival provides exceptional opportunities for children and parents to experience and enjoy music together. This year, OBF presents Buzz and Crow on Saturday, July 7 and Peter and the Wolf on Saturday, July 14. [caption id="attachment_7727" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Nadina Mackie Jackson and Guy Few bring their Buzz and Crow characters to life"][/caption] Buzz and Crow is a musical adventure for the young and young and heart, performed by internationally known soloists Guy Few and Nadina Jackson. Armed with just their instruments and imagination, and using just music without words, they’ll tell a story of two archetypal characters and their friendship. Children and parents alike will enjoy these talented performers in an up close and personal setting as the story and music unfold at The Studio in The Hult Center at 10 AM, July 7. The next week, Dance Theater of Oregon performs the famous story of Peter and the Wolf in a live dance interpretation with recorded music. A musical symphony and story written specifically for children, Peter and the Wolf tells a tale of a brave boy and a hungry wolf. Peter and the Wolf march forth in Soreng Theater at 10 AM, July 14. Also under the OBF Kids umbrella, guest conductor Bob Chilcott presents the PICCFEST Gala in association with OBF on Sunday, July 1 at the First Baptist Church at 7:30 PM. With more than 300 children voices, the Pacific International Children’s Choir Festival features choirs from across the United States and Finland. Seeing all these talented children performing great music together, children in the audience will be inspired by the powerful voices of a choir made up of their peers. Tickets for the OBF Kids Saturday performances are $5 and are available through oregonbachfestival.com/tickets or at the Hult Center Box Office. PICCFEST Gala tickets are $12, also available through the Hult Center. To order by phone, call 541-682-5000.
