OBF artistic director and conductor Helmuth Rilling has been named to receive the Martin Luther Medal of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). Helmuth will be honored for his life's work in spreading the message of the four Gospels through the medium of music, and for promoting the music of Johann Sebastian Bach worldwide. Helmuth is the seventh winner of the medal, which was first awarded in 2008 and will be awarded annually until 2017, the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, sparked by the 1517 posting of Martin Luther's Ninety-Five Theses. The medal will be awarded at the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig on October 31 as part of a Reformation memorial service. Read All
